Public demands to improve services amid worsening living conditions in rural Hasaka

Protests are intensifying in the rural areas of Hasaka city, as living and service conditions continue to deteriorate, the crisis over potable water remains unresolved, and fuel prices keep rising, amid widespread public demands for improved services and alleviate daily living burdens.

Public dissatisfaction continues to rise in rural areas of Hasaka as the service and living conditions continue to deteriorate, while prices of essential goods keep climbing. At the same time, demands for improved services and the fulfillment of residents' basic needs are growing stronger.

In this context, residents of Al-Hol town blocked the road connecting Al-Hol and Hasaka on Sunday to oil transport tankers in protest against rising fuel and water prices as well as declining levels of basic services. They urged the relevant authorities to intervene to improve service conditions and ensure a stable supply of fuel and drinking water at prices commensurate with the region's challenging economic situation.

The hardships of the town's residents have intensified recently following the removal of electric generators, further exacerbating their daily burdens. This is compounded by the ongoing water crisis and soaring water prices; filling five barrels of water now costs approximately 100,000 Syrian pounds.

Social media activists have also shared a video showing children from the villages of Al-Hol drinking water poured from water tanks, due to a severe shortage of potable water and the difficulty in obtaining it. This has sparked widespread outrage among local residents, prompting many to demand urgent solutions to the worsening water crisis.

In a related development, several residents of Shaddadi city are scheduled to organize a protest demonstration at Freedom Square, demanding improvements in living conditions and public services, as well as the restoration of essential services that have been declining recently.

These measures come at a time when several areas of Hasaka countryside are facing growing service and economic challenges, amid public calls to address crises related to water, electricity, and fuel supplies and to improve living conditions for residents, especially in regions suffering from severe shortages of basic services.
