Protest in Tal Tamr calls for better living conditions, lower prices

Residents of Tal Tamr held a protest today on Martyr Omar Barafi Street, calling for improved living, service and security conditions and lower fuel prices amid mounting economic pressures and deteriorating basic services in the city and its countryside.

During the protest, a statement was read by Mahmoud Abdul Aziz Mohammed, Deputy Co-Chair of the Qubur al-Qarajna Town Council, and Nalin Sido, a member of the Tal Tamr Council.

The statement pointed to the continued rise in the prices of basic goods and declining purchasing power, in addition to ongoing water, electricity and fuel crises and inadequate basic services.

The statement also addressed the security situation in Tal Tamr and its countryside, as parts of the area are close to front lines and instability continues. This has affected civilian movement as well as agricultural and commercial activities, in addition to the impact of years of war and displacement on several damaged villages and areas.

In their statement, residents called on the relevant authorities to improve services and ensure water, electricity and fuel supplies, and to take measures to curb rising prices and support low-income families. They also called for strengthening security and stability and protecting civilians and their property.

The statement called for the rehabilitation of infrastructure and damaged villages, creating suitable conditions for the return of displaced people, and strengthening cooperation with humanitarian organizations to meet residents’ urgent needs.

At the end of the protest, participants said that improving living, service and security conditions is a priority for them. They stressed the need to respond to their demands and provide the necessities for a dignified life, contributing to stability and the return of normal life to the city and its countryside.
