Protest held in Tel Tamer over rising prices and declining services

Residents of Tel Tamer and its surrounding villages held a protest today on the M4 international highway against rising prices and deteriorating basic services, calling for urgent measures to address the economic and service-related situation.

During the protest, residents expressed their dissatisfaction with the continued rise in the prices of basic commodities and fuel, as well as the decline in purchasing power. They said meeting daily needs had become an increasing burden on families.

Speaking during the protest, resident Ali Khalaf said the demonstrations were “a rejection of exorbitant prices and deteriorating living conditions,” noting that “residents’ purchasing power is continuously eroding, while even the most basic necessities of life have become a burden for most families.”

He also pointed to the deterioration of basic services, stressing that “basic services are a right of citizens, not a favor from anyone.”

The protest comes amid a series of demonstrations taking place across the Jazira Canton, with residents calling for improved living conditions, lower fuel and basic commodity prices, and better services for citizens.
