In Qamishlo, thousands of residents took part in a large demonstration that began at Soni Roundabout. Participants raised slogans condemning the crime and demanding accountability for those responsible before marching toward Martyrs’ Roundabout.

The protesters chanted slogans honoring the martyrs and calling for the perpetrators to be held accountable, stressing their rejection of the crime and of all forms of violence and incitement to discord.

Upon reaching Martyrs’ Roundabout, the demonstrators observed a minute of silence in honor of the martyrs, followed by the reading of a statement on behalf of the Popular Initiative in Qamishlo.

The statement said Sipan Hazni was abducted in the city of Hasakah on September 10 before being killed in what it described as a brutal and inhumane manner.

It noted that two similar incidents had occurred recently, describing Sipan’s martyrdom as the third such incident.

The statement accused forces seeking to undermine the integration process and prevent the Kurdish people from obtaining their rights and legal status within the Syrian state of being behind the incidents and planning and carrying them out.

It added that these forces seek to destabilize the region, spread fear and mistrust among its residents, and push society toward chaos in order to serve their political agendas.

The statement called on the Syrian transitional government to clarify the circumstances of the crime, launch a transparent investigation, and hold those responsible accountable and punish them in accordance with the law. It also urged residents to remain vigilant, stand together, preserve their unity, and prevent any party from exploiting them to serve its political agendas.

In Çil Axa, the Popular Initiative issued a statement outside the Democratic Union Party center in the Al-Rasafa neighborhood in the presence of residents, martyrs’ families, representatives of political parties, Kurdish tribal dignitaries, and members of women’s movements. The statement condemned the crime and called on the Syrian transitional government to assume its legal and official responsibilities.

The statement was read by Popular Initiative member Faisal Hassan, who said the crime committed against Sipan had crossed all boundaries of humanity and morality. He called for a comprehensive and transparent investigation to uncover the circumstances of the crime and hold anyone found responsible accountable.

The statement stressed the need for the Syrian transitional government to fulfill its responsibilities to ensure security and safety for all communities in the region, end the proliferation of weapons outside the framework of the law, and work toward building a country where all its communities enjoy security, stability and their legitimate rights.

At the end of their statement, residents of Çil Axa rejected all forms of incitement, hatred and discord and reaffirmed their commitment to civil peace and coexistence. They reiterated their condemnation of the crime and their determination to continue demanding truth and justice.

In Tirbespiye, residents held a large demonstration condemning Sipan’s abduction and killing. The demonstration began at Martyr Khabat Square and passed through the city’s main streets before turning into a protest gathering in the central market.

The gathering began with a minute of silence in honor of the martyrs. Shanaz Abdo, speaking on behalf of the Popular Initiative in Tirbespiye, stressed the need to hold all those involved in the crime accountable, warning that such acts could fuel discord and undermine civil peace.

Abdo called on the Syrian transitional government to assume its responsibilities, investigate the circumstances of the crime, and hold accountable anyone found involved in acts that threaten stability and civil peace.

Mohammad Jamil, an administrator with the Martyrs’ Families Council in the Jazira, said Sipan’s abduction and killing required all those involved to be held accountable, noting that Siban had been carrying out his duties to protect Syrians.

In Hasakah city, hundreds demonstrated in condemnation of Sipan’s martyrdom. The demonstration began at Hakama Roundabout in the Tel Hajar neighborhood and ended at Serhad Roundabout in the Salihiyah neighborhood. Participants carried banners calling for justice and accountability for those responsible and chanted slogans condemning the crime and calling for Kurdish unity.

During the gathering at Serhad Roundabout, Abdulghani Osso, a member of the General Council of the Democratic Union Party, held the Syrian transitional government responsible for what happened, calling on it to take a serious position, clarify the circumstances of the crime, identify those involved and hold them publicly accountable.

Osso said the people had stood against discord throughout the years of war and worked toward peace, calling on the transitional government to demonstrate its commitment to protecting peace and stability.

Sheikh Abdullah Alawi, speaking on behalf of the Democratic Islam Congress, said that after years of war, killing and displacement, Syrians had reached a stage requiring them to preserve peace and prevent attempts to sow discord. He called on Kurds, Arabs and all communities not to be drawn into inflammatory rhetoric.

In Derik, residents held a large protest condemning Sipan’s martyrdom and demanding justice.

In addition, the Martyrs’ Families Council organized a demonstration in Tirbespiye condemning Sipan’s martyrdom, with the participation of martyrs’ families, representatives of civil society institutions and local residents.

The demonstration began outside the Martyrs’ Families Council building and proceeded to the city center. Participants chanted slogans demanding accountability for Sipan’s killers and stressing the need for justice.

Following a minute of silence, Nouri al-Din Shaker, a member of the Martyrs’ Families Council, called for those responsible for the crime to be held accountable. He said the participants would continue following the path of the martyrs, preserve the gains achieved through their sacrifices, and safeguard Kurdish culture and language.

The protests come amid growing popular demands to uncover the circumstances surrounding Siban’s abduction and killing and hold all those involved accountable, in a way that ensures justice and preserves civil peace and stability in the region.
