As part of the public awareness campaign launched by the People’s Municipality in Sheikh Maqsoud and Ashrafieh on April 13 under the slogan "Together to Make Our City More Beautiful," the municipality continued its campaign today in the Bani Zeid neighborhood.

Dozens of Bani Zeid residents are participating in the initiative alongside members of the People’s Municipality to clean the main streets. According to the committee supervising the initiative, the campaign will continue for two consecutive days.

Majd Sha’bou, a member of the People’s Municipality in Sheikh Maqsoud and Ashrafieh and one of the participants in the campaign, told ANHA agency that the main goal of the campaign is to raise awareness among residents about the necessity of keeping the streets clean and preventing the effects of garbage accumulation.

Sha’bou pointed out that the campaign also aims to ease the burden on the equipment needed for street cleaning due to a shortage of fuel supplies, caused by the ongoing blockade imposed on the two neighborhoods by the transitional government in Syria.

He called on residents to extend a helping hand to the People’s Municipality and work to overcome all current difficulties affecting the service sector, and to maintain public cleanliness.

The blockade imposed by the transitional government in Syria on Sheikh Maqsoud and Ashrafieh since September 25 has affected many sectors, primarily the service sector, creating numerous obstacles, most notably in garbage removal.
