On February 27, leader Abdullah Ocalan issued a historic appeal titled "Peace and the Democratic Society" through a delegation from the Equality and Democracy of Peoples Party. In his message to the PKK, he stated:

"Just as no modern society or party has been eradicated by force, you must also hold your congress voluntarily and make the necessary decisions. All groups should lay down their arms, and the PKK must dissolve itself."

 The PKK’s Response

On March 1, 2025, the PKK officially responded to leader Ocalan’s call by issuing a statement declaring: "We hereby announce a ceasefire as of today, in fulfillment of leader Abdullah Ocalan’s call for peace and a democratic society."

The party affirmed that it would refrain from any "armed operations unless attacked." The following day, March 2, the Central Command of the People's Defense Center issued a statement confirming that the ceasefire applied to all its forces.
