The statement reads: “Within the framework of the ongoing campaign against the terrorist organization ISIS, and in fulfillment of their ethical and national duties toward the Syrian people of all communities and regions, the Syrian Democratic Forces, together with the Internal Security Forces of NE Syria and the Women’s Protection Units (YPJ), launched this morning a large-scale operation, ‘Permanent People’s Security,’ across several neighborhoods in the city of Hasaka.  The operation involved extensive sweeps, raids on numerous ISIS hideouts, and the dismantling of multiple terrorist networks.

This operation coincides with intensified movements by the organization across Syrian territory, exploiting the prevailing chaos and security vacuums in various areas of the Syrian desert and interior. Such conditions enable terrorist cells to exert de facto control over these regions while attempting to expand into other areas, particularly in northern and eastern Syria, which host prisons and camps containing terrorist elements.

Operationally, the operation served as a preemptive strike against ISIS attempts to reorganize and establish cells to execute attacks on prisons housing its members and leaders, particularly in Hasaka. Intelligence gathered by our forces and partner units indicated the organization’s intent to transform Hasakah into a hub for its operations, especially in neighborhoods near the Industrial Prison and the outskirts of the city. This operation successfully thwarted these plans once again.

After approximately 14 hours of intensive operations, involving over three thousand fighters, the forces achieved all objectives, arresting 51 wanted terrorists, including individuals involved in attacks against civilians, security, and service centers, as well as dismantling dangerous terrorist networks, including those planning attacks on the Industrial Prison and al-Hol camp. The operation also neutralized threats to civilians and regional stability and secured arms, ammunition, and logistical support caches for terrorist cells, which included:

50 Kalashnikov rifles

155 Kalashnikov magazines

16 pistols

16 pistol magazines

1 BKC rifle with ammunition

5 hand grenades

3 radio devices

3 Bren guns

Additional Kalashnikov rounds

Military uniforms and gear used in terrorist operations

The completion of this operation marks a significant step in strengthening security and stability in the region. Nevertheless, we reaffirm our commitment to monitor suspicious activity and intensify anti-terror operations at all levels. We express our gratitude to all components of Hasaka for their cooperation with the operation’s forces and their active contribution to achieving its objectives. We renew our pledge to continue exerting efforts and sacrifices to ensure the security and stability of the region against any terrorist threats."
