Peoples' Council in Deir ez-Zor: Occupation commits systematic war crimes

Today, the Democratic Peoples' Council in Deir ez-Zor Canton issued a statement strongly condemning the recent attacks by the Turkish occupying state on the city of Zirghan in Jazera Canton, the city of Serrin in Euphrates Canton, and the crimes committed against protesters near Tishrin Dam.

The statement was read by Rania Al-Hebo, a member of the Democratic Peoples' Council in Deir ez-Zor, with the participation of council members in front of the Executive Council building. The statement described the attacks as "multiple crimes and massacres" that add to Turkey's record of criminal acts against Syrian civilians.

The statement noted that the bombardment targeted a civilian house in the city of Zirghan, resulting in the martyrdom of civilians and the injury of 11 others. The city of Serrin was also bombed, leading to the martyrdom of 12 civilians, including two children. The attacks did not stop there, as they also targeted the vicinity of Tishrin Dam and civilian convoys heading toward the dam.

The statement expressed deep condemnation of the international silence regarding this dangerous escalation, describing it as a race against time to impose Turkish occupation control over areas in North and East Syria.

It affirmed that these actions constitute "systematic and deliberate war crimes" targeting unarmed civilians and violating all international laws and conventions.

The Democratic Peoples' Council called on all human rights and humanitarian organizations, as well as relevant United Nations institutions, to intervene immediately to stop these attacks and hold those responsible accountable under international justice and human rights laws.
