People of Raqqa,Tabqa, and Deir ez-Zor head to Tishrin Dam to join sit-in

The residents of Deir ez-Zor, Raqqa, and Tabqa Cantons are heading to Tishrin Dam to join the sit-in to protect the dam and support the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF).

On January 8, thousands of residents from cities in the North and East Syria region formed a civilian convoy heading to Tishrin Dam to stop the Turkish occupation’s attacks on the dam and prevent its collapse.

Today, residents of Deir ez-Zor, Raqqa, and Tabqa Cantons, members of civil institutions, hundreds of vehicles, and displaced individuals from Afrin and Shahba Canton also joined the sit-in.

The convoy set out from Al-Rashid Bridge in Raqqa city, met with the delegation from Tabqa Canton, and proceeded to Tishrin Dam. The purpose of the sit-in is to protect the dam and support the SDF in their fight against the Turkish occupation and its mercenaries.

The collapse of the dam would result in a humanitarian disaster for the people of Tabqa, Raqqa, and Deir ez-Zor in particular, and Syria as a whole.

Thousands of residents from the North and East Syria region have been taking turns protecting Tishrin Dam in groups for the past six days, following the attacks it has faced since December 8, 2024.
