Within the framework of the "Peace and Democratic Society" initiative launched by Leader Abdullah Ocalan, the people of Qamishlo expressed their views and stance on the policies of the Turkish authorities and their position regarding any dialogue with them.

Citizen Nizamuddin Hussein stated that the Kurdish people have been struggling for 52 years for a free life and homeland, making significant sacrifices in this pursuit. He confirmed that the Kurdish people take Leader Abdullah Ocalan’s call for peace and a democratic society seriously.

Hussein added that the Turkish state "has not yet responded clearly to this call or taken any concrete steps, therefore, they will not trust it unless it implements genuine legal and constitutional changes."

For her part, citizen Malika Osman sent her greetings to Leader Abdullah Ocalan, saying, "We, as women, have adopted the ideology and philosophy of Leader Abdullah Ocalan in all fields and have succeeded in reclaiming our rights and identity as Kurdish women thanks to this ideology." She stressed that the Kurdish people, in their pursuit of a life of peace, justice, and equality, have sacrificed thousands of martyrs and achieved these accomplishments through the sacrifices of freedom fighters. She added that the Turkish state has not taken any concrete steps so far, making it untrustworthy, and they will continue their struggle for the physical freedom of Leader Abdullah Ocalan.

Similarly, citizen Fatima Jassim stated that she does not believe the Turkish state genuinely desires peace, saying, "The People’s Defense Forces (HPG) announced a ceasefire. We see this step as aimed at fostering peace among peoples, but the Turkish state continues its attacks against the HPG to this day. This clearly shows that it does not want to build a democratic society." She added that the philosophy of Leader Abdullah Ocalan represents a path to freedom and coexistence for all peoples of the region, including Arabs, Kurds, Armenians, Circassians, and Turks, and therefore, they will continue their struggle as the peoples of the region for this shared goal.
