Outcomes of Druze leadership meeting

The religious leadership of the Druze Unitarian Muslims, along with community dignitaries and elders, called for the activation of internal security forces to be composed exclusively of locals from As-Suwayda. They rejected any form of division or secession and opposed the surrender of arms at this stage, stressing the urgent need to lift the siege on Druze areas.

In a statement issued following a meeting held last night, the religious leadership, elders, and the broader Druze community rejected the division, detachment, or separation from Syria, and opposed handing over weapons to the Damascus authorities.

The meeting was attended by the spiritual leader of the Druze Unitarian Muslim community, Sheikh Hikmat al-Hijri, Sheikhs Youssef Jerbou’ and Hammoud al-Hanawi, Prince Hassan al-Atrash, Prince Yahya Amer, Atef Henedi, Wasim Azaldin, and representatives from local armed factions.

The main outcomes of the meeting were as follows:

Immediate activation of internal security forces and judicial police made up exclusively of personnel from As-Suwayda Province.

Immediate lifting of the siege on Jaramana, Sahnaya, and Ashrafiyat Sahnaya, and the restoration of normal life in these areas.

Securing the Damascus–As-Suwayda road and ensuring its safety under the responsibility of the authorities.

A ceasefire across all Syrian territories.
