Today, the women of Aleppo issued a statement to the global public opinion, which was read in the Ashrafieh neighborhood of Aleppo city, regarding the recent escalation against the Druze in Syria. The event was attended by dozens of women from the Sheikh Maqsoud and Ashrafieh neighborhoods.

The statement, read by Kongra Star member Meis Shasho, explained that Syria has recently witnessed a dangerous escalation in sectarian rhetoric and incitement to violence and identity-based killings targeting the Druze sect, which forms an integral part of Syria’s social fabric.

The statement pointed out that “any form of violence against any sect, regardless of its religious or doctrinal background, is a direct threat to the Syrian people as a whole and a threat to stability and peaceful coexistence.”

Through the statement, the women of Aleppo expressed their rejection and condemnation of all violations and incitement calls against any Syrian component. They urged the international community to take a firm stand against these discriminatory and racist policies that aim to divide society and ignite civil war.

They also called on the Syrian people to unite and stand together to uphold the values of democracy and tolerance, ensuring that every individual attains their rights and freedoms, away from violence, sectarianism, and the extremist mentality of “ISIS-like factions,” and to thwart their plans to divide Syria and halt conflict and chaos.

Several Druze-majority areas in the countryside of Damascus were attacked by factions affiliated with the Damascus authorities, resulting in dozens of deaths, reportedly triggered by a voice recording.
