Oumet: peoples' struggle put pressure on CPT

Member of the Central Committee of the Kurdistan Workers' Party, Helen Oumet, evaluated the statement of the Committee against Torture (CPT) and its approaches regarding Imrali and the situation of leader Abdullah Ocalan, during her participation yesterday, in the Media Haber TV program.

At the beginning of her speech, she saluted the struggle of leader Abdullah Ocalan and his historical resistance in Imrali, and said: “To understand the world order, we must look at the torture system in Imrali. In the past 15-20 days, some topics related to Imrali were discussed. The Committee against Torture made a statement, then the Ministry of Justice relied on that and made a statement regarding the leader and 3 of his companions, and despite the end of Wesyi Aktaş’s sentence, his release was postponed for another year without any reason. The purpose of all this is clear, and it is implemented within the context of a plan.

We've always said this; The policies followed in Imrali are not only related to Imrali, but rather it is a field of struggle that determines the policies related to the Kurdish people and the region.

People must pay attention to the goal of international powers in building an Imrali system. Why? Because everyone knows that the Turkish state did not have the ability to carry out an international conspiracy in 1999. Even if they said that for propaganda, everyone knows that without the support of international powers, the leader would not have been kidnapped and placed in Imrali.

Turkey only plays the role of a guard, within this conspiracy, meaning that the Turkish state is the one that guards the genocidal regime established by international powers that want to end the struggle of the Kurdish people in this way, and always gives hope to Turkey.”

Oumet said that institutions such as the Committee against Torture of the Council of Europe (CPT) and the European Court of Human Rights (ECtHR) are aware of all the matters, and noted: “After the leader was detained on the island of Imrali, he began writing his pleadings, most of which include letters to the European Court and the Committee against Torture.”

Oumet explained: “When a leader submits a request to the International Court or the Committee against Torture, he struggles to expose the lies of the international system and its institutions.”

Helen stressed that the current statements of the Committee against Torture and the European Court of Human Rights are an admission that in the current situation, they share responsibility; Because there is already a very dangerous situation that cannot be accepted. In Imrali, promises made by officials of the Committee against Torture in 1999 and the provisions of the European Convention on Human Rights are being violated.

Helen Oumet: “The peoples of Europe and the democratic forces must see these facts and escalate the struggle based on them, because it is a disgrace to humanity and, in particular, to the claims of European democracy, and to the geography that is supposed to give hope to humanity and set a standard for human rights. Therefore, struggle must be escaleted in that region."

Oumet said: "If the CPT today has reached the point of blaming the European Court, this is the result of the impact of the peoples' struggle for the physical freedom of leader Abdullah Ocalan."
