Open strike at Manbij hospital over corruption and attacks of mercenaries

This is the third strike of its kind this year. Earlier, staff held two protest actions:

On April 22, denouncing attacks by militants who entered patient rooms armed and assaulted medical staff.

On October 21, protesting delayed salaries, poor management, and the replacement of long-serving medical staff with personnel connected to hospital administration.

Hospital staff report that the facility is directly managed by Turkish-backed militants through unknown organizations, with corruption spreading across all departments. Financial allocations are stolen, and salaries and aid are manipulated.

Manbij National Hospital provides medical services to over 4,000 patients per month with very limited resources. Critical cases are often transferred to private hospitals or to Aleppo due to lack of modern equipment, medicine, and basic supplies.

The strike occurs while Manbij and its countryside face a dire health crisis, with hospitals and health centers turning into hubs of corruption and looting, leaving patients’ lives at risk amid chaos and lack of oversight and basic services.
