North Kurdistan delegation holds series of political meetings in Rojava

A political delegation from North Kurdistan is holding a series of meetings and discussions with political forces, parties, women’s movements, and human rights activists in Rojava, as part of efforts to follow developments and ongoing attacks targeting the region by factions of Syria’s interim government.

The delegation arrived in Rojava yesterday. It includes the co-chair of the Peoples’ Equality and Democracy Party (DEM Party), Tülay Hatimoğulları; the co-chair of the Democratic Regions Party (DBP), Keskin Bayındır; the DEM Party’s deputy for Van and Mersin MP Ali Bozan; the spokesperson for the Democratic Unity Initiative, Gülcan Kaçmaz Sayyiğit; as well as representatives of trade unions and civil society organizations.

Today, the delegation is conducting a series of meetings with political forces, parties, and movements. According to the announced program, the delegation will meet with the Democratic Union Party (PYD), a number of women’s movements and organizations, and the joint Kurdish delegation that emerged from the Conference on Kurdish Unity of Ranks and Position.

The day’s agenda also includes a meeting with the Department of Foreign Relations of the Autonomous Administration, followed by a press conference to present the outcomes of the meetings and the course of the visit.

The delegation is scheduled to conclude its meetings today with a session with human rights activists, during which political, legal, and humanitarian conditions in the region will be discussed amid the sensitive circumstances it is experiencing and the growing challenges facing the Kurdish people and their political forces.
