Residents of Kobani face suffocating siege, attacks on countryside 

The people of Kobani are enduring extremely harsh humanitarian conditions after being stripped of basic services as a result of the siege. Water, electricity, and internet services have been cut off, while shortages of food, medicine, fuel, and baby milk have escalated residents’ suffering to unprecedented levels.

Meanwhile, Kobani’s rural areas are witnessing intermittent attacks launched by the factions, which are being repelled by fighters. These attacks have been concentrated particularly in the areas of Hamdash west of the city, and the villages of Quba, Jaada, Hamdor, Khan Mamad, Jalabiya, and Sarrin, further exacerbating the humanitarian situation.

Activists have warned that the continuation of the siege and attacks threatens the lives of thousands of civilians, calling on the international community and humanitarian organizations to urgently intervene to halt the attacks and provide necessary support to the people of Kobani, who face the risk of hunger and deprivation under harsh conditions.

Residents have affirmed that their resistance will continue and that they will not allow mercenaries to enter the city to commit massacres against civilians.

On Wednesday, activists launched campaigns on social media in support of Kobani’s resistance and to demand swift action to lift the siege imposed on the city.

Meanwhile, committees and institutions of the Democratic Autonomous Administration in Kobani, along with local communes, continue their efforts to provide essential services to the extent possible given the available resources.
