New group of Jazera residents heads to Tishrin Dam to join protests

A new group of residents from the cities of Jazera Canton has headed to Tishrin Dam to participate in the protests that began on January 8 against the ongoing attacks by the Turkish occupation and its mercenaries on North and East Syria.

Early this morning, hundreds of residents from the cities of Derik, Girkê Legê, and Çil Agha gathered in their cities and set off in a convoy of cars toward Tishrin Dam to join the protests.

This marks the third such group from these cities to head to the dam to take part in the demonstrations.

Since January 8, protests organized by the people of North and East Syria have continued at Tishrin Dam to protect it from Turkish occupation attacks and to denounce the assaults on the region.

Despite heavy rain and freezing temperatures, the protesters heading to the dam carried flags of the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) and the Women's Protection Units (YPJ). Car convoys gathered in the city of Hasaka before heading to the dam as a single procession.

Since December 8, 2024, the Turkish occupation has been launching attacks on Tishrin Dam and the Qereqozaqê Bridge, while the Syrian Democratic Forces and the Women's Protection Units continue to resist these attacks.
