New Group of al-Hol Camp residents arrive in Aleppo countryside

Local sources reported today the arrival of a new group of people who were in al-Hol Camp in the Hasakah countryside to the Aleppo countryside, after the Syrian Interim Government authorities and factions began transferring the families. Uncertainty continues regarding the number of those remaining in the camp and the transfer procedures.

The sources stated that buses and trucks carrying approximately 400 people, including women and children, arrived today in the Akhtarin area.

Yesterday, a convoy of six buses carrying approximately 300 people, mostly women and children, arrived in areas in the Aleppo countryside near Akhtarin.

Recent footage released yesterday by the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights shows that several sections of the camp are nearly empty. Previous estimates suggest the camp houses thousands of people of various nationalities, including approximately 15,000 Syrians and over 6,000 foreign women and children. Some countries continue to refuse to repatriate their citizens from the camp.

Observers note that while these families have begun arriving in the Aleppo countryside, the transfer process and the measures taken to prevent the escape of ISIS families remain shrouded in mystery. It is unclear whether the transfer is simply a relocation or an attempt to facilitate the escape of these families.

The camp and its surrounding areas have witnessed heightened security tensions in recent weeks, with reports of smuggling operations and the removal of ISIS families.
