New batch of SDF detainees released

The Syrian interim government has released a new batch of detained members of the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF), while our correspondent reported that two of the released detainees have arrived in the city of Qamishlo.

Today, Friday, former detainees Diyar Hussein Mahmoud and Hassan Nawaf arrived in the city of Qamishlo after being released as part of a group of detainees freed last night.

The two men were welcomed at Martyr Youssef Kalo Roundabout by their families and local residents, in an emotional atmosphere marked by joy and relief at their return.

The latest release comes as part of the implementation of the prisoner exchange agreement between the Syrian Democratic Forces and the Syrian interim government, stemming from the January 29 agreement, which provides for the reciprocal release of detainees held by both sides.

The first batch of detainees was released on March 10, 2026, followed by the second on March 19, the third on April 11, and the fourth on May 8. The latest batch, released last night, is part of the continued implementation of the agreement's provisions.
