The Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced today that €15 million would be allocated to support recovery and reconstruction efforts in Syria during 2026, with the funds to be disbursed within the current year.

Dutch Minister for Foreign Trade Sjoerd Sjoerdsma said during his participation in the World Bank’s annual meeting that the funding would be made available immediately, helping accelerate the launch of reconstruction projects.

In a statement, the ministry said the initiative focuses on the needs of the Syrian population by supporting the restoration of essential services and stimulating the economy, particularly the agricultural sector.

The announcement comes amid efforts to strengthen cooperation between the Netherlands and Syria, including moves to establish a joint committee to address outstanding issues between the two countries, foremost among them facilitating the return of Syrian citizens to their homeland.
