NE, Syria between targeting and methods of survival

The people of North and East Syria are waging a war of various methods and forms, between military, political and private, in order to protect the region’s gains achieved over the past decade at various levels, and its administrative system and military forces have been able to withstand the current stage within the intense regional and international conflicts.

The region is being targeted by the Turkish occupation state by land and air on the one hand, and it is still witnessing the movement of ISIS cells and its insurgency with the Turkish targeting of the region, the most recent of which was an ISIS attack on an SDF military point in Raqqa, and militants linked to Damascus government forces also target the region from time to time, especially in the Deir-ez-Zor province.

The secret of the steadfastness of the society of North and East Syria, according to what community figures indicated, lies in the unity of its components, and their avoidance of becoming pawns and tools for implementing regional and international agendas, despite the pressures they are exposed to from those parties.

The co-chair of the Raqqa Canton Councils, Haifa Muslim, said: “Our solidarity, cohesion, and unity are our strengths in defending our regions, and thwarting what is being plotted against the Autonomous Administration,” and she pointed to the importance of national cohesion, saying, “Solidarity and strengthen relationships and help strengthen ties between members of society.” They constitute a solid obstacle to the plans that aim to undermine our project.”

She noted that the raging attacks on the region are due to the correctness and success of this project, and said: “Our project met with unrestrained success and acceptance by all components, and as the region seeks to develop and advance the economic reality, especially after the conclusion of the Social Contract Law and the upcoming municipal elections, they increased their attacks.”

The society of North and East Syria has been managing itself since the beginning of the Syrian crisis, and its efforts culminated in coming up with an administrative system of Democratic Autonomous Administration in 2014, which has become an urgent demand and the only one through which the Syrians can solve the Syrian crisis.

To confront the attacks, the civil activist and co-chair of the Circassian neighborhood commune in Raqqa canton, Nabil al-Hamad, said, “Through our cohesion and solidarity as components, with our valiant forces against any attack on the region, alone can deter these attacks, and will lead us to victory again as we have defeated them so far ".

The civil activist considered national cohesion to be the first wall to protect the society of North and East Syria, and to prevent breaches of the security and stability of the region. National cohesion is an inherent asset in our regions and no one can take it away.

Likewise, Doha Al-Ali, the civil activist and co-chair of the western neighborhood councils in Raqqa, said, "We must strengthen this community solidarity and rally around the Syrian Democratic Forces to prevent destabilization of this stability that we lost at the hands of ISIS mercenaries and all parties that passed through our areas."

At the current stage, despite the attacks and pressures, the society of the North and East Syria is heading steadfastly towards municipal elections scheduled for next May 30.
