The National Guard forces accused factions of the Syrian Interim Government of targeting the western axis of Sweida city with four mortar shells, stating that they were fired indiscriminately and directly at populated areas.

In a statement, they added that the shelling "constitutes a serious attack that threatens the lives of civilians and endangers their security and safety."

They affirmed that their units "will deal immediately and decisively with any sources of violation using appropriate means, within their assigned defensive duties, to ensure the protection of civilians, safeguard their well-being, and prevent any attempt to undermine security and stability."
