The Democratic Women’s Alliance in the Middle East and North Africa “Nada” released a written statement today on the occasion of International Women’s Day.

The statement affirmed that on March 8, International Women’s Day, the Nada Alliance raises its voice in solidarity with women across the region, stressing that their struggle is not merely a symbolic celebration but an existential necessity for building just societies. The statement highlighted the suffering of women under occupation and wars in Palestine, Sudan, Syria, Yemen, Somalia, and Sinjar, where they face genocide, displacement, and systematic violence amid international silence.

The alliance also condemned the U.S.–Israeli military escalation against Iran, considering that the arrogance of power threatens international peace and calling for respect for the sovereignty of peoples and the adoption of dialogue.

Furthermore, it stressed that women are facing a regression in political and economic rights and marginalization in the labor market despite their educational achievements, in addition to neoliberal policies that have deepened poverty and deprivation.

The alliance announced a number of key demands, most notably:

Enshrining women’s rights in legislation.

Ensuring women’s participation in decision-making processes.

Holding perpetrators of war crimes accountable.

Releasing detained women.

Forming an international women’s front for solidarity.

The statement concluded by emphasizing that women’s voices will remain loud in the face of wars, reactionary forces, and discrimination until justice, freedom, and dignity are achieved.
