Mutual kidnapping increase at Syrian-Lebanese border

According to the SOHR, a group of residents of the Wadi Khaled area of Homs border between Lebanon and Syria kidnapped a woman with her 2 children from the Lebanese city of Tripoli on Tuesday, in response to a gang practicing kidnapping luring one of their sons, Osama Obaid last week and demanding a ransom of $ 400,000.

The people of Wadi Khaled area accused the so-called Madin Hadid, nicknamed (Al-Barjas) from the city of Talbiseh in the northern countryside of Homs, of being behind the kidnapping, which prompted him to record audio clips in which he disavowed the accusations against him.

According to the SOHR, the woman who was kidnapped from the Lebanese city of Tripoli is the sister of Madin al-Barjas along with two of her children in order to pressure him to release their kidnapped son as soon as possible.

Hours after the kidnapping in Tripoli, al-Barjas threatened to target security centers of the Damascus government and violated the settlement agreement concluded in the city of Talbiseh last month if they did not intervene to release his sister and her children.

It should be noted that the mutual kidnappings and threats taking place in the region between the 2 parties did not witness any intervention by the security branches of the Damascus government and its forces, which are accused by both sides of supporting kidnapping gangs and condoning their pursuit in exchange for obtaining the largest percentage of ransom money revenues.
