Member of the Executive Council of the KJK, Mustafa Qaraso, participated in a program on the Medya Haber channel, during which he evaluated the global campaign for the freedom of leader Abdullah Ocalan:

“There has been absolute isolation that Leader Abdullah Ocalan has been exposed to for 9 years. It is true that some meetings have been held, but basically there has been strict isolation since that time. In fact, there has been strict isolation imposed for 25 years, and at one point there were meetings held with the leader, and perhaps it was like negotiations, but the Turkish state did not have an approach represented by negotiations, and that was clear, and we were also involved in this stage.

Europe is also responsible without a doubt for applying isolation to the leader in this way, as the leader previously said that the European Court of Human Rights, the Council of Europe, and the European Committee against Torture (CPT) are responsible, as they are the ones who created this system. This system was established among Europe,  America, and Turkey, because Europe and the United States of America were the ones who handed over the leader to Turkey, and Turkey had no effort to capture Leader Ocalan. If it were not for the position of the European Union and the position of the United States of America, it would not have been possible to Turkey to do something.

In fact, members of the European Parliament and the Greek Parliament had invited the leader, and in turn, Leader Ocalan went to Greece and then to Italy, and he wanted to go to Europe, and he wanted to stay there, but Europe did not accept. It did not even apply its own laws, and the leader’s trial in Germany was on the agenda, but the case was not even started. However, the case should have been started, and the political asylum request for leader Abdullah Ocalan was not accepted. While thousands of PKK supporters granted political asylum in Europe, leader Ocalan left; He was deprived of it.

The United States already played a leading role in the leader's kidnapping and extradition to Turkey. In a way, they asked Turkey to issue such an order. In this regard, the European Union and the United States bear direct responsibility. They are also responsible for the isolation and policy that has been carried out in Imrali for 25 years.

The Committee against Torture announced after the visit of Omar Ocalan and his lawyer, with a statement and said: “We cann’t make a statement. If Turkey gives permission, we can make a statement” or “If there is a human rights violation in Imrali, the DMME (European Court of Human Rights) is responsible.” This statement shows that they are suffering.

The Court's approach is also consistent with the interests of the US. Issues of human rights, law and justice stop when it comes to political interests. Especially when it comes to the Kurdish issue, political interests play a role.

A European author once wrote a book called “Kurds Without Lawyers.” And that the Kurds would not get it. What is important here is to increase pressure on public opinion. It is possible to wage a legal struggle against the CPT, but in order to obtain results, it is more important to support the leader.

We must step up the campaign for the leader's physical freedom. If we do that, we will be able to achieve results. This cann’t be done only by appeals and declarations, by saying “Why don't you do it?” That is why we have to put pressure through our struggle, positions and solidarity around the leader on DMME and CPT.

If they are criticized a lot, and they reach the point where they question the reason for their existence, they will reconsider their positions; That is why we must escalate the campaign for the freedom of the leader.”
