More than 70 organizations, institutions call for supporting Rojava

More than 70 organizations and institutions, including Alawites, Yazidis, migrants (displaced people), socialists, women, and peace advocators, issued a joint statement.

The statement declared that the "Syrian Army," comprised mostly of ISIS and similar jihadist groups, has been launching widespread attacks on the Autonomous Administration areas of Rojava since January 6th, beginning in Aleppo and spreading to other regions, in violation of previously signed agreements.

The statement explained that these attacks have resulted in the death of civilians and the displacement of thousands, in addition to the capture of Kurdish women and the torture and killing of Syrian Democratic Forces fighters in ways that constitute war crimes. It emphasized that what is happening is not merely a military operation, but a systematic attempt to destroy society, particularly the women of Rojava.

The statement further noted that the jihadist groups have not targeted only Kurds, but have also targeted Alawites, Druze, Christians, secular Muslims, and anyone who disagrees with them religiously or ideologically, plunging the country into darkness and chaos.

He added that the people of Rojava, especially Kurdish women, played a pivotal role in resisting ISIS and defending human values, and that the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) defeated the mercenaries in the region. However, jihadist groups have now returned, seized control of ISIS prisons, and released thousands of their mercenaries, posing a serious threat not only to Rojava but also to global security, especially given the attempts to close al-Hol camp, which houses approximately 50,000 mercenaries and their families.

The statement indicated that "the international coalition, which includes the United States, Britain, the European Union, Israel, and Turkey, is behind these attacks, with the aim of redrawing the region to serve its interests and targeting the Rojava model based on equality, women's freedom, and democracy."

In conclusion, the signatories called on all democratic and freedom-loving forces to stand in solidarity with Rojava and to raise their voices against these attacks, affirming their commitment to defending Rojava and standing beside the Syrian people until a democratic Syria is achieved.
