Masked gunmen kill couple, try to kidnap young woman

According to ANHA correspondent in Homs, two masked gunmen on a motorcycle carried out a shooting in Street No. 19 of the Al-Nazihin district, near Al-Aseel Roundabout, targeting a grocery store with heavy gunfire. The attack resulted in the immediate death of Ali Eid and his wife Ilham.

Local sources reported that one of the assailants dismounted and opened fire at close range before fleeing the scene, amid the complete absence of any response from security forces.

In a separate incident, armed men driving a white Hyundai Santa Fe attempted to abduct a young woman near Hassan al-Kurdi School in the Al-Sabeel neighborhood. However, the victim’s screams and the swift intervention of residents forced the kidnappers to retreat.

These incidents underscore the continuing pattern of violence against civilians, particularly those belonging to the Alawite community, amid the failure of the Transitional Government to enforce law and order — a situation fueling sectarian-motivated killings in its areas of control.
