Martyrs’ Families in Girkê Legê support development of Autonomous Administration 

Aiming to improve performance and enhance community participation, the Families of Martyrs Council in Girkê Legê, in the Jazira Canton, held its annual meeting at the Aram Tîkran Center for Culture and Arts in Rmelan, with the participation of martyrs’ families from the city, Rmelan, and their surrounding areas.

The meeting began with a moment of silence, followed by a speech from the co-chair of the Families of Martyrs and War Wounded Council in North and East Syria, Rîzan Klo, who emphasized that “the blood of the martyrs has shaped the contours of the democratic project in North and East Syria.”

Klo stressed: “Honoring these sacrifices requires redoubling efforts and improving performance in tribute to their dedication.”

He pointed out that martyrs’ families constitute the main guarantee for the continuity of the path of resistance and construction, and that their active participation contributes to consolidating the foundations of the Autonomous Administration and advancing toward building a decentralized democratic Syria that includes all its components.

Following this, council member Salah Habash read the council’s annual report, which was followed by interventions from several martyrs’ families focusing on the need to address shortcomings from previous years and to work collectively to improve performance.

Participants affirmed that the role of the Families of Martyrs Council goes beyond commemoration, serving as a driving force in developing society and raising awareness.

The meeting also discussed the economic and social conditions of families, proposing development and service projects aimed at improving their living standards.

Discussions centered on enhancing communication between villages and cities and activating the role of communes to ensure broader participation in community life.

The meeting concluded by emphasizing the importance of collective work to support democratic values and protect the rights of all community components, while honoring the sacrifices of martyrs that have formed the foundation of social construction and progress.
