Martyrs’ families condemn attack on Manbij Martyrs’ Cemetery

The Councils of Martyrs’ Families have condemned the systematic destruction of the Martyrs’ Cemetery in the city of Manbij by the mercenaries of the Turkish occupation.

Qamishlo

A member of the Martyrs’ Families Council delivered a statement at the Martyr Dalil Sarukhan Cemetery in Qamishlo, in North and East Syria, stating: “The Turkish occupation state systematically violates human values and principles, reaching the point of destroying cemeteries and sacred sites, as previously seen in Afrin and the occupied Shahba.”

The statement emphasized that these hostile actions are not new, as Turkey has committed similar crimes in Girê Spî, Serê Kaniyê, and Bakur Kurdistan, including bombing cemeteries and desecrating the graves of the deceased and martyrs, clear violations of all international laws and regulations.

The statement called on the international community and human rights organizations to fulfill their role in stopping these practices, urging the Damascus government and relevant actors to take serious steps to protect national sanctities, especially the Martyrs’ Cemetery, which holds great symbolic value for all peoples.

Tirbespiyê

In the city of Tirbespiyê, the Martyrs’ Families Council denounced the destruction of the Martyrs’ Cemetery in Manbij, stating: “We strongly condemn this blatant attack on the sanctities of the homeland and call on the relevant authorities to launch an urgent investigation to ensure those responsible for this act are brought to justice.”

Al-Shaddadi

Similarly, the Martyrs’ Families Councils in Al-Shaddadi issued a statement condemning “this heinous criminal act, which goes beyond being a crime against humanity, it is an attack on historical memory. We strongly condemn this blatant assault on the sanctities of the homeland and call on the relevant authorities to launch an urgent investigation to bring the perpetrators to justice and enforce the law transparently.”

The statement also emphasized “the unity of the national ranks and rejected any attempt to distort the memory of the martyrs or undermine their sacrifices for the advancement of society. This act will not deter us from continuing to defend our values and principles, and our voices will remain loud in support of truth and justice.”

Amuda

In Amuda, the Martyrs’ Families Council denounced “this heinous criminal act, which goes beyond being a crime against humanity, it is an attack on historical memory.”

The statement continued: “We strongly condemn this blatant assault on the sanctities of the homeland and call on the relevant authorities to launch an urgent investigation to bring the perpetrators to justice and enforce the law transparently.”

Kobani

Likewise, the Martyrs’ Families Council in Kobani issued a statement condemning “the destruction of the Martyrs’ Cemetery in Manbij by the mercenaries of the Turkish occupation.”

The statement pointed to the silence of the international community and the Damascus government regarding the actions of these mercenaries.

It further stated that these immoral actions by the Turkish occupation’s mercenaries against sacred sites amount to the destruction of cultural heritage.

Ain Issa

In Ain Issa, the families of martyrs and displaced persons residing in the Girê Spî refugee camp issued a statement condemning the heinous crime against the Martyrs’ Cemetery in occupied Manbij, considering it a blatant violation of religious and ethical values by the mercenaries of the Turkish occupation.

They described this disgraceful act as a flagrant violation of all religious, moral, and humanitarian principles and a direct affront to the families of the martyrs and the conscience of humanity. The statement also highlighted the mercenaries’ complete lack of ethics and respect for sacred sites.

They called on the relevant authorities, the United Nations General Assembly, and Islamic countries to condemn these practices, launch an urgent investigation, and hold those responsible accountable.

Raqqa

The Martyrs’ Families Council in Raqqa issued a statement asserting that “targeting cemeteries reflects the depth of hatred and brutality harbored by the Turkish occupier,” stressing that the desecration and destruction of graves are religiously prohibited, proving that these attackers disregard both religious and humanitarian values.

The statement urged the Damascus authority to “take a serious and firm stance against the Turkish occupation and its crimes.”

It also called on “international, human rights, Islamic, and Christian organizations to act against these crimes, particularly holding the Turkish government accountable, as these acts constitute war crimes that target even the dead in their graves.” Additionally, it appealed to “the United Nations, the European Union, and the Security Council for immediate intervention to put an end to such actions.”
