The people of the Martyr Rustam Joudi Camp (Makhmour) continue their sit-in for the fourth consecutive day, demanding the lifting of the siege on the camp and the release of the detained delegation of the People’s Council in Baghdad. They have set up the sit-in tent again in front of a military checkpoint of the Iraqi army, reaffirming their insistence on their demands.

This came after the Iraqi forces failed to fulfill their promises to release the detained delegation on May 15, despite holding meetings with Iraqi officials.

Since April 10, the camp has been under a strict siege, during which the authorities prevent the entry of food supplies, prohibit workers from reaching their jobs, and refuse to renew the residents’ IDs.

It is worth mentioning that the camp was previously subjected to a siege by the Kurdistan Democratic Party, which adds to the suffering of its residents amid the ongoing security escalation.
