Mahmoud Khalil: detainees group to arrive in Hasakah this evening

Earlier, the Deputy Commander of the Internal Security Forces in Hasakah, Mahmoud Khalil, announced in a post on the platform “X” that the leadership of the Internal Security Forces (Asayish) had arrived in the city of Afrin as part of the mutual commitment to the provisions of the January 29 agreement, and to complete the first phase of the return of the displaced to their regions.

He added that the families arrived safely, and that their stability was secured in the areas of Jindires, Shiyeh, and a number of villages and sub-districts affiliated with them.

Khalil pointed out that efforts are ongoing to complete the humanitarian aspect related to the file of detainees and missing persons, noting that the concerned authorities will head from Afrin to Hasakah to supervise the reception of a new group of detainees who will be released and are scheduled to arrive in the city of Hasakah this evening.

He stressed that work is continuing at a high pace to follow up on the implementation of the agreed provisions and to address the pending issues, foremost among them the detainees’ file and the return of the displaced, in addition to ensuring the restoration of rights to their owners.

At dawn today, the first batch of displaced people from Afrin, consisting of about 400 families, arrived in their areas in the Afrin countryside after years of displacement, within the framework of implementing the provisions of the agreement signed on January 29 between the Syrian Democratic Forces and the Syrian Interim Government.
