Leader Ocalan Message: PKK disarmament linked to government's democratic steps

The delegation of the Peoples' Equality and Democracy Party (DEM Party) conducted its third meeting with leader Abdullah Ocalan on Imrali Island this morning. The meeting included prominent figures such as Ahmet Türk, Pervin Buldan, Sırrı Süreyya Önder, Tülay Hatimoğulları, Tuncer Bakırhan, Cengiz Çiçek, and Faik Özgür Erol, along with other İmralı detainees Ömer Hayri Konar, Hamili Yıldırım, and Veysi Aktaş.

Following the meeting, Abdullah Ocalan, the Imrali delegation, and the three other detainees issued a joint statement, which was recorded on video. However, Turkish authorities did not hand over the video to the delegation, providing only still images instead.

Upon their return from Imralı, members of the delegation held a press conference at the Elît World Hotel in Istanbul, where they presented leader Ocalan’s historic appeal.

After reading the leader'ss call for "peace and a democratic society," delegation member Sırrı Süreyya Önder reiterated Ocalan’s position: "The realization of the disarmament process and the dissolution of the PKK are directly tied to the legal and democratic political steps that the other side is willing to take."
