Kurdish parties condemn Turkish attacks on Kobani 

Today, the Kurdish parties in the city of Kobani made a statement in the city’s Freedom Square, in the presence of a crowd of party members and leaders. The statement was read by the co-chair of the Future Syria Party, Shivin Qul Agassi. 

The statement explained: “The Turkish occupation state is still continuing its threats and military mobilizations against our regions, and is committing daily violations and massacres against civilians, and striking infrastructure, including service institutions, electricity and water stations, hospitals, dams, and grain silos, and targeting journalists and ambulances, which led to the martyrdom of number of unarmed civilians, and two journalists who were covering violations of the Turkish occupation and its mercenaries were also martyred.”

The statement continued: “Now the Turkish occupation state is directing its threats to the city of Kobani in particular, as its drones and heavy artillery target the city of Kobani and its countryside on a daily basis. It wants to break the will of the people of Kobani after Kobani became a symbol of breaking the power of the terrorist ISIS, the city that defended all of humanity. Today, it is subjected to daily bombardment, in retaliation for the defeat of ISIS and the destruction of the will of our resistant people in the city of Kobani.”

The statement stressed: “We in the political parties in the city of Kobani condemn these gatherings and this ongoing bombing in the strongest terms. We also affirm that the continued silence of the international community, the United Nations and human rights organizations regarding these threats and war crimes committed by the Turkish state and its mercenaries, and despite these crimes and violations targeting out people, we affirm our firm commitment to defending our land and our honor, and we will continue with all determination and strength to deter and thwart the plans of the Turkish state and its mercenaries.”

In conclusion, the statement stressed: “Therefore, today more than ever, it is necessary for us to stand together in support of our forces, the Syrian Democratic Forces, and we value their valuable positions and initiatives to end the wars and their support for dialogue for a pluralistic, decentralized Syria.”

The statement appealed: “We, the political parties in the city of Kobani, appeal to the coalition forces, led by the United States of America, Russia, the League of Arab States and the United Nations, to put an end to the Turkish interventions and violations and its mercenaries, and their occupation of our region, especially the city of Kobani, which we liberated together from ISIS, with the shedding of the blood of our righteous martyrs, and today It is subjected to bombing and violations, and the Turkish state is trying to occupy this city and change its population demographics, just as it did in occupied Afrin. We the political parties, affirm that the Syrian crisis can only be resolved through Syrian-Syrian dialogue, in order to achieve a pluralistic and decentralized Syria, a Syria for all Syrians.”

The sacrifices of our martyrs will remain a beacon that illuminates the path to freedom and dignity.
