Kurdish parties expressed their full support for the decisions made during the 12th Congress of the PKK, emphasizing that these decisions mark a significant turning point in Turkey’s history.

Berwin Yousef: The world is embracing Leader Abdullah Ocalan’s ideas

Berwin Yousef, co-chair of the Democratic Union Party (PYD), emphasized that the PKK has played a central role in protecting Kurdish identity from assimilation. She stated that the party has provided a model for an alternative free life based on the philosophy established by Leader Abdullah Ocalan.

In her congratulatory message on the occasion of the PKK’s 12th Congress, Berwin Yousef said: "We congratulate the holding of the PKK’s 12th Congress on Leader Abdullah Ocalan, the martyrs, the patriotic people of Kurdistan, the Kurdish freedom fighters, the PKK and Free Women’s Party militants, the comrades resisting in prisons, women, youth, the peoples of the Middle East and the world, revolutionaries fighting for equality, freedom and democracy, the democratic socialist world, and progressive humanity. We remember, starting from comrade Haki Karer to the martyrs of the 50th year who became symbols, along with comrades Leyla, Akhin, Rojhat, Erdal, Shilan, and all our heroic martyrs, with great respect, love, and appreciation."

In a statement on the party’s official website, Yousef affirmed that the world is increasingly adopting Leader Abdullah Ocalan’s ideas, which strengthens global solidarity with the Kurdish people. She pointed out that the PKK is not merely a political movement but has become a philosophy of resistance and continuous transformation across times and regions.

Tulay Hatem: PKK's decision is a turning point in Turkey’s history

Tulay Hatem Ogullari, co-chair of the Equality and Peoples' Democracy Party, stressed the significance of Leader Abdullah Ocalan’s historic call for peace and democratic society. She affirmed that the PKK’s 12th Congress was a response to this call and made substantial decisions in this regard.

She explained that the decision announced by the party marks a crucial turning point in Turkey’s history, as it paves the way for concrete steps toward democratic transformation. She emphasized that silencing weapons and ending conflict places a significant responsibility on the government, opposition, and Turkish society to ensure the success of this phase and work collectively to build a “democratic republic.”

Bafel Talabani: A historic step toward peace

Similarly, Bafel Jalal Talabani, head of the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK), welcomed the decisions made at the PKK’s 12th Congress, considering the decision to dissolve the party and declare a ceasefire at this sensitive time as “a historic step toward achieving peace.”

Talabani stressed that the PUK is committed to supporting and ensuring the success of the peace process, underlining the importance of taking all necessary steps to reach the desired goals. He added, “We continue, following in the footsteps of President Mam Jalal, our efforts to solidify the peace process, believing that a peaceful resolution to the Kurdish issue is the only way to achieve stability in the Middle East.”

He also expressed hope for the success of the peace process in North Kurdistan and Turkey, contributing to opening a new chapter in political and diplomatic relations among all parties, and enhancing joint efforts for the benefit of all of Kurdistan.

Masoud Barzani: Full support for the success of the peace process

Masoud Barzani, head of the Kurdistan Democratic Party (KDP), also declared in a statement his full support for the success of the peace process, expressing optimism that the PKK’s decision to dissolve itself would lead to positive outcomes for the region.

Barzani affirmed that the positive stance of the concerned parties toward the peace process in Turkey is an encouraging development. He pointed out that the decisions made at the party’s congress represent an important step toward a peaceful solution.

Barzani added, “We hope this process will lead to good results that benefit everyone,” announcing his full support for these efforts by all possible means to ensure their success.
