On Saturday, elements of the joint checkpoint belonging to the security forces of the Syrian Interim Government and Turkish-backed mercenaries abducted Kurdish youth Adnan Ahmad Kanjo (24 years old), a resident of Ahras village in the northern countryside of Aleppo. He was stopped at their checkpoint located on the Deir Hafer–Aleppo highway near the junction leading to the town of Kuwairis, allegedly because his phone contained Kurdish symbols and images.

According to the Afrin-Syria Human Rights Organization, the young man was taken to an unknown location, and his whereabouts remain unknown.

On Friday, June 27, Turkish-backed mercenaries also abducted 66-year-old Kurdish citizen Ibrahim Hamo Sharo from his home in the Ashrafieh neighborhood of the occupied city of Afrin.

The organization reported that the elderly man was abducted under the pretext that his car—a Kia Rio with a license plate registered in Aleppo (222785)—was stolen, despite his ownership of the vehicle for over 14 years. He was taken, along with his car, to an undisclosed location.

These incidents are part of a series of ongoing violations targeting Kurdish citizens and residents in areas under the control of Turkish-backed mercenaries, amid a complete absence of legal oversight or accountability for those responsible.
