The Kurdish Language Day event, scheduled to be held at the Afrin Cultural Center, was canceled today, Thursday, following a dispute over the removal of the Turkish flag from inside the center's auditorium.

Local sources reported that the event was scheduled for 1:00 PM at the Cultural Center in the center of Afrin. However, a number of participants demanded the removal of the Turkish flag from inside the auditorium, which belongs to the Syrian Ministry of Culture.

According to the sources, officials from Gaziantep University refused to comply with the demands, leading to the cancellation of the event and the participants leaving the venue.

It is noted that the amphitheater of the cultural center in Afrin has become affiliated with the Directorate of Culture in Aleppo, after it had been affiliated with the Faculty of Education at Gaziantep University, amid ongoing demands to remove the Turkish flags from the amphitheater.
