Kurdish child reportedly beaten by School Principal in Afrin

The Human Rights Organization – Afrin, Syria, has published details regarding the abuse of a Kurdish child, Jowan Osman (12 years old), a resident of Afrin.

According to the organization, on Sunday, September 28, the child, a sixth-grade student, was subjected to physical assault by a man named Jadallah — reportedly a settler who serves as the principal of the “Al-Ittihad Al-Arabiya” school, located behind the stadium in the New Afrin neighborhood.

The organization reported that the principal searched the boy and asked him, “Where is the knife?” The child replied, “I don’t have a knife.” In response, Jadallah allegedly struck the boy on his face and shoulder and pushed him down the stairs, according to the child’s father.

Further details provided state that when the child returned home and told his mother what had happened, she went to the school to inquire. The principal then shouted at her, saying: “Go complain to whomever you want; I don’t care,” according to the mother’s testimony.

This incident is cited as part of a broader pattern of violations committed in Afrin against the indigenous population.
