Kobani Residents: Physical freedom of leader Ocalan key step toward peace

Residents of the city of Kobani have reaffirmed their demands for granting physical freedom to Kurdish leader Abdullah Ocalan, stressing the need to immediately improve his conditions and considering this a fundamental step toward achieving peace.

Residents of Kobani voiced their calls for securing the physical freedom of leader Ocalan, underscoring his pivotal role in advancing the peace process.

Ahmadi Bir, who accompanied leader Abdullah Ocalan on several occasions, stated that the leader’s struggle has entered a new phase that requires enabling him to continue his role, noting his commitment to stand by him until the end. He added: “Leader Ocalan leads a peace process based on the principles of action and equality, and his message in all our meetings revolved around peace.”

For her part, Jihan Bozan, a member of the Council of Martyrs’ Families, affirmed that leader Abdullah Ocalan has consistently sought to achieve peace, noting that “his call has contributed to historic steps for the freedom movement.” She added: “Thanks to these efforts, our leader must obtain his freedom. He represents the foundation of peace, and the Kurdish people look forward to his presence among them, as he is the key to resolving the conflict in the Middle East.”

In the same context, Haji Qolikhasi, a member of the Council of Martyrs’ Families, said that freedom fighters had symbolically destroyed their weapons in support of peace, “yet the Turkish side has not taken any steps so far.”

He added: “Our only hope today, as residents of Kobani, is to achieve the physical freedom of leader Ocalan, especially amid growing concerns over his health condition. The people’s freedom will not be realized unless he is released.”
