The Coordination of the Kurdistan Women's Community (KJK) issued a written statement on the occasion of the birth of Leader Abdullah Ocalan, which falls on April 4 each year.

In the statement, the KJK stressed the necessity of celebrating April 4 as a day of physical freedom for Leader Abdullah Ocalan across all parts of Kurdistan and beyond, at all levels.

The statement added: "We celebrate and honor the leader's birthday on April 4 with love and respect. We bow in reverence before the memory of our comrades Masum Qaraoğlan and Mustafa Dağ, who were martyred during the April 4 protests, and we pledge to keep their memory alive by achieving victory. We also salute the youth-driven initiative of the freedom march toward Amara."

According to ancient traditions in the Middle East, those who contribute greatly to society are considered blessed. This is a celebration that is willingly embraced by the community. The physical birth of Leader Abdullah Ocalan on April 4 carries a meaning of this kind. The birth of April 4 marks the beginning of a new era and geography. When the leader was born on April 4 in the village of Amara, Kurdistan was experiencing brutal genocidal policies in the 20th century. It was denied existence to the point that its identity was almost unrecognizable. This great contradiction, along with his upbringing by his mother, Ayişe, later led to the second and third births of Leader Abdullah Ocalan. While the first birth was physical and a preparation for future rebirths, the second and third were by his own will.

The second birth was the establishment of the Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK), which symbolized the recreation of the Kurdish people with freedom, equality, justice, love, and respect. It represented the reintegration of Kurdish identity with socialism, the unity of peoples, and the awakening of women with passion. People who had reached the point of denying themselves and feeling ashamed of their own existence began to reclaim their identity, rise again, and revive. Those who were thought to be finished and told "your time is over" shook off the dust and rebelled against the enemy. With this birth, Kurds and women learned organization and struggle for their identity, moving toward freedom and equality. The PKK, beginning in the harsh and pure geography of the mountains like a beehive, waged a great struggle to create a new reality for societies and individuals. The consciousness of comradeship and solidarity was deeply rooted and strengthened. The twenty years of efforts by Leader Abdullah Ocalan in the Middle East, along with the sacrifices of tens of thousands of martyrs, the participation of hundreds of thousands in uprisings, the successive waves of women's engagement, and the immense dedication of thousands of guerrillas in every corner of the mountains, paved the way for the third birth.

The Leader’s call became the manifesto of the third birth

The paradigm shift following the February 15, 1999, conspiracy marked the third birth. The question "With what system of life will the illuminated Kurdish consciousness, will, and identity be defined?" was answered by embracing the truth of society and women. This was a revolutionary development for peoples and women alike. The transition from the local to the global level for women became a courageous step and a great hope for humanity, the Middle East, and Kurdistan. What started as a drop with the first birth and expanded into a sea with the foundation of the PKK became an ocean with the third birth in Imrali. The third birth brought us much closer to global awareness and truth. As a continuation of this process, the leader’s call on February 27 was the culmination and embodiment of the third birth manifesto.

The 76th birthday of Leader Abdullah Ocalan on April 4 has gained immense significance for Kurdistan, Turkey, the Middle East, and women, as it paves the way for democratic society and peace. The primary measure of fulfilling this manifesto is achieving the physical freedom of the leader, democratizing politics, and establishing a legal and rights-based foundation. Therefore, April 4, 2025, signifies an escalation in the struggle for the absolute freedom of Leader Abdullah Ocalan as he enters his 76th year. This is our duty and responsibility toward the leader who made his birthday a day of rebirth for all of us.

On this basis, we call upon women, youth, our national people, our friends, and all our children to march toward Amara, the birthplace of the first rebirth. On April 4 this year, let us unite the first birth with the third birth, merging the leader’s strength with the power of the people, women, youth, and children. Let us turn the ancient land of Amara into a symbol of peace, fertility, and the birth of freedom. Women, youth, and children must march toward freedom with Leader Abdullah Ocalan in his birthplace, combining rebirth with liberation.

We call upon our people in all parts of Kurdistan and abroad, especially women, youth, children, and friends, to celebrate April 4 everywhere, based on the physical freedom of Leader Abdullah Ocalan, by planting flowers and trees. Every tree planted this year should be dedicated to the leader’s physical freedom with the wish for a tree of peace and a democratic society. Kurdistan and nature will flourish with this wish. The third birth was realized in İmralı and triumphed over İmralı intellectually. Now, it is time to overcome İmralı physically as well. It is time for a new birth. It is time for the birth of freedom. It is time to create peace and a democratic society with the third birth of Leader Abdullah Ocalan. On this basis, we once again congratulate the leader on his birthday."
