The mercenaries of the Turkish occupation state kidnap male and female citizens in Afrin and the rest of the occupied areas to collect money. The Violations Documentation Center revealed dozens of operations in this context.

The mercenaries of the Turkish occupation state continue to kidnap male and female citizens in Afrin and the rest of the occupied Syrian regions without accountability or oversight, to demand ransom and take a major action in collecting money. The Violations Documentation Center monitored dozens of kidnappings in this context, and the following is a preliminary list that it published today:

On April 2, 2024, the mercenaries of the National Army “Military Police” in the city of Afrin released the citizen Farhad Muhammad, a resident of the village of Deirswan in the Sharan district, in exchange for him paying a ransom of 6,000 US dollars. Farhad was kidnapped in December 2023.

On April 4, 2024, the National Army mercenaries released the citizen Suleiman Juma Muhammad, a resident of the village of Baiya in the Sherawa district in the Afrin countryside, after he paid a ransom of 2,700 US dollars. Suleiman was kidnapped from inside the local council building of the city of Afrin late last January 2024

On April 7, 2024, the National Army mercenaries (Military Police)  in the town of Maabatli released the elderly citizen, Muhammad Hussein, from the village of Kamruk in the Afrin countryside, after paying a ransom of 700 US dollars, in addition to bribes to the court employees and the Syrian National Army mercenaries, estimated at about 1,500. USD (total $2,300)

On April 14, 2024, the mercenaries of the National Army (Sultan Murad) released 3 young men, “Ahmed Hayek,” 41 years old, “Mahmoud Omar Daaboul,” and “Ziyad Sayed Ahmed,” 36 years old, after they paid a ransom amounting to $27,500. The 3 young men were arrested by Sultan Murad's mercenaries on April 12
