Kongra Star has warned against attempts to stir discord in Hasakah, saying that internal and external actors are seeking to fuel conflict in Syria amid tensions that have gripped the city over the past two days.

In a statement issued in Kurdish on Saturday and translated into Arabic by ANHA agency, Kongra Star said developments in Hasakah coinciding with the anniversary of the October 9 international conspiracy point to deliberate attempts to provoke tensions, stressing that the timing is no coincidence.

The statement said escalating tensions, interference affecting civilians and attempts to target Kurdish neighborhoods threaten peaceful coexistence and regional security. It also warned of the consequences of armed groups moving toward Hasakah from al-Shaddadi, Deir ez-Zor and Raqqa, saying that failure to stop their movements increases the risk of conflict between the region’s communities.

Kongra Star stressed Hasakah’s strategic and historical importance as a city home to Kurds, Arabs and other communities, noting that its residents had previously suffered under Arabization policies. It also recalled the city’s role in the fight against ISIS mercenaries, particularly on the fronts of Hasakah, Raqqa, Deir ez-Zor and al-Shaddadi.

The statement said the current developments target the forces and political parties that contributed to defeating ISIS mercenaries and seek to undermine relations among the region’s communities.

It stressed that the situation in Hasakah cannot be viewed as merely a local crisis, but is linked to policies pursued by internal and external actors seeking to expand their influence in the region. It warned against attempts to revive Baathist policies based on dismantling social cohesion and fueling divisions among peoples through armed groups and social unrest.

Kongra Star called on the various communities in Hasakah to adopt a united position against provocations and continue democratic and organized activities. It stressed that preventing armed conflict is not the responsibility of Kurds or Arabs alone, but of all the region’s communities.

Kongra Star also called on Syrian officials to fulfill their responsibilities in maintaining security, protecting civilians and controlling the movements of armed groups. It urged them to investigate how armed groups from al-Shaddadi and Deir ez-Zor reached Hasakah, identify those who allowed them to move and explain why they were not prevented from advancing toward Kurdish neighborhoods.

Concluding its statement, Kongra Star called on the peoples of Rojava, democratic forces in Syria, women’s organizations and civil society organizations to act responsibly against attempts to incite discord and hostility, and to work to prevent any potential conflict in Hasakah from escalating or spreading to other parts of Syria.
