Journalist Alaa Muhammad was found shot dead in his home in the village of Nini, in the Qardaha countryside, according to local sources.

About four hours before his death, Muhammad had broadcast live on his YouTube channel, discussing a statement issued by the Shura Council of the people of Busra al-Sham in Daraa. He spoke about the connection between the Daraa situation and regional and international powers, in addition to what he described as a state of lawlessness and clashes in Deir ez-Zor and Damascus.

During the broadcast, he indicated that "the interim government will continue on its path," he added that "in every city, there are two factions affiliated with the Ministry of Defense, versus another faction working for private or foreign agendas."

He concluded his broadcast by asking, "After 14 months, what has been achieved? What can be achieved? I think nothing." He also referred to statements by US President Donald Trump, in which Trump said, "I put this president in place," suggesting that these statements were directed at a domestic American audience.
