The Jordanian Armed Forces announced in a statement that they had foiled two attempts to smuggle a large quantity of narcotic substances coming from Syrian territory, which were being transported using electronically guided balloons.

The statement explained that border guard units, in coordination with security agencies and the Jordanian Anti-Narcotics Department, were able to detect the balloons along the eastern border front with Syria and deal with them, bringing down their payload inside Jordanian territory.

The statement confirmed that the smuggled materials were seized and handed over to the relevant authorities to take the necessary legal measures. It added that the armed forces continue to mobilize their capabilities to prevent infiltration and smuggling operations and to protect the borders.
