Jina Amini's family threatened with arrest over grave visit

Jina Amini’s family received threats of arrest if they left their home to visit their daughter’s grave. In addition to restricting access to the Aychi Cemetery in Saqqez, E. Kurdistan, security forces tightened their measures to prevent relatives from visiting the Amini family home, according to "Iran International."

Moreover, Iranian authorities intensified their security measures against activists in Saqqez, Jina Amini’s hometown, sending hundreds of security vehicles and installing surveillance cameras throughout the city’s streets to prevent any gatherings or events.

Other reports indicated that authorities released water from a dam in Saqqez to block the road leading to Jina Amini’s cemetery, preventing people from visiting her grave.

Jina Amini, a 22-year-old Kurdish woman, was killed on September 16, 2022, by the so-called "morality police" for allegedly not wearing the mandatory hijab imposed by the Iranian authorities on women. Her death sparked an uprising in E. Kurdistan and Iran, condemning her killing.
