The Israeli army announced today, Sunday, that it had conducted what it described as a “cross-border operation” into southern Lebanon via the Mount Hermon area in Syria, in a move that is the first of its kind since it took control of the area in December 2024.

In a statement published on the platform “X,” the army said that the Mountain Climbing Unit of the “Mountains” Brigade (810) carried out the operation, noting that it aimed to thwart attempts by armed groups to establish positions near the Lebanese border.

At the same time, Israeli forces advanced this morning into the villages of Al-Asha and Al-Asbah in the southern countryside of Quneitra, using four military vehicles.
