ISIS posed enduring threat on Internal Forces' checkpoints in region 

The Internal Security Forces in the Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria announced through their official website that one of their security checkpoints in the Deir ez-Zor countryside and one of their vehicles were targeted by ISIS mercenary cells. 

In detail, the Internal Security Forces said: "The Al-Hawaij checkpoint and the point opposite it on the riverbed in Deir ez-Zor were subjected to an armed attack on the evening of Monday, December 23, carried out by a cell affiliated with the terrorist organization ISIS using Kalashnikov rifles and riding motorcycles." Our forces responded immediately, forcing the cell members to retreat without any injuries among our ranks. 

Adding: "ISIS cells also targeted an anti-drug department vehicle today, leaving two of our forces injured, in addition to targeting the Sabha checkpoint yesterday, escalating their terrorist activities in the region." 

The forces noted, "We in the Internal Security Forces affirm our readiness to confront these threats and protect the security and stability of the region. We call on citizens to cooperate and report any suspicious movements that could threaten the safety and stability of our families." 

During the current week, the movements of ISIS mercenary cells and their targeting of internal security forces' checkpoints and positions within the region have increased. The town of Al-Sabha in the Deir ez-Zor countryside witnessed an attack on a checkpoint, just hours after a checkpoint in the Wadi al-Raml area of Al-Hasakah was targeted, and prior to that, a checkpoint in the university area of Raqqa was attacked. 

And today, the U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) stated in a statement published on the platform (X) that a precise airstrike targeted a location in the Deir ez-Zor countryside, resulting in the death of two ISIS mercenaries and the injury of another. 

The statement added that the mercenaries were transporting a truck loaded with weapons, which was destroyed during the attack. 

The Central Command stated that "the area where the attack occurred was previously under the control of the Syrian regime and Russian forces," and noted that the airstrike is part of the ongoing efforts of the International Coalition to combat terrorism and eliminate ISIS cells in the region.
