The Internal Security Forces' media center published information about an attack by ISIS mercenary cells on one of its patrols in the eastern countryside of Deir ez-Zor Canton. The center noted the escalation in cell activity, stating:

"To our people and public opinion:

At exactly 10:00 PM yesterday, members of ISIS terrorist cells directly targeted one of our forces' patrols with gunfire while they were performing their duty to maintain security and stability as part of the checkpoint security missions in the town of Al-Hussan in the western Deir ez-Zor countryside.

The attack resulted in only material damage, with no injuries among the patrol members. Our forces immediately combed the area in search of the perpetrators and reinforced security measures around the area.

This attack comes amidst the escalation of ISIS cell activity over the past few days. These cells have carried out two terrorist operations in various areas of the eastern Deir ez-Zor countryside, in desperate attempts to destabilize security and undermine the stability achieved thanks to the sacrifices of our forces.

We, the Internal Security Forces, affirm our continued responsibility to carry out our duties, and we pledge to our people that such cowardly acts will not deter us from continuing our duty to protect the security and safety of our people in NE Syria.
