Iraqi Foreign Minister arrives in Damascus

Iraqi Foreign Minister Fuad Hussein arrived in the Syrian capital, Damascus, on an official visit.

The Iraqi Ministry of Foreign Affairs said in a statement, cited by the Iraqi News Agency (INA), that Foreign Minister Fuad Hussein arrived in Syria on an official visit in response to an invitation extended to him by Syrian Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates Asaad al-Shaibani.

It added that the minister will hold a series of meetings with Syrian officials to discuss ways to enhance bilateral relations and develop joint cooperation in political, security, economic, and trade fields, in a manner that serves the mutual interests of both countries.

The ministry further stated that the talks will also address the latest regional and international developments, ways to strengthen coordination and consultation between Baghdad and Damascus regarding shared challenges, in addition to discussing efforts aimed at supporting security and stability in the region and developing mechanisms for bilateral cooperation that achieve mutual interests and enhance regional stability.
