The delegation, which included the Secretary for Human Rights Protection, the spokesperson for the Women's Union, the Union for Workers' Rights and Social Rights, a parliamentary representative from an anti-capitalist organization, and several lawyers, visited North and East Syria and met with the Women's Protection Units.

The delegation was received by Suzdar Dêrik, a member of the YPJ General Command, along with members of the YPJ Military Council, including Destina Halab, security official Israa, and Armenian Council member Talin.

The visiting delegation discussed several issues, including gaining a broader understanding of the Women's Protection Units, as well as the struggle of women against patriarchal dominance.

"Women feel free through struggle"

Suzdar Dêrik, a member of the YPJ General Command, welcomed the delegation and said: "We are in contact with all women and communities in the region. As women, we want to learn about all communities and introduce them to our struggle, which includes women's freedoms and the rights of different nationalities."

"We will not allow Syria to become Afghanistan"

The meeting continued with discussions on the developments in Syria and women's struggle against religious extremism. Regarding this topic, Suzdar Dêrik stated: "As women, we oppose the concept of national and religious fanaticism. We reject the mentality of one nation, one religion, one language, one ideology, and one sect. The Ba'ath regime imposed a nationalist ideology on the people, and the current regime enforces Sharia law on women. In Afghanistan, the concept of Sharia is being implemented, and we will not allow Syria to become another Afghanistan. We oppose the notion of Sharia and believe that democratic nations ensure a peaceful and secure life."

Suzdar Dêrik concluded by reaffirming their commitment to continuing their political and military struggle for a free and equal society, stating: "We want all women and communities in the region to discuss the ideal model for Syria. The Kongra and the Zenobia Women's Gathering are making joint efforts to explore the representation of women in the new Syrian constitution. We will do our utmost to protect and preserve our achievements."
