Internal Security in Sheikh Maqsoud: Our forces will defend our people's will

The Internal Security Forces in Sheikh Maqsoud issued a statement regarding the recent events in the neighborhoods of Sheikh Maqsoud, Ashrafieh, and Bani Zeid.

The statement read:

"Since January 6, mercenaries affiliated with the interim government in Damascus, supported by Turkish reconnaissance drones and using tanks, artillery, armored vehicles, and all types of heavy weapons, in addition to thousands of militants, launched a brutal attack on our neighborhood.

However, based on the decision of the Sheikh Maqsoud and Ashrafieh Neighborhood Council, our forces chose to resist and defend their dignity.

On this basis, our forces engaged in heroic resistance, sacrificing their lives without hesitation to defend the neighborhood and the dignity of our people. They refused submission and rejected surrender. The record of our martyrs will be made public.

During this period, our people faced violent attacks, resulting in a large number of casualties and wounded. To treat the wounded, they went to the neighborhood’s only hospital, Khaled Fajr. The mercenaries targeted the hospital dozens of times with heavy weapons and Turkish “Bayraktar” drones in an attempt to commit a massacre inside.

To protect our people from further massacres and to evacuate the wounded, civilians, women, and children from the hospital to safe areas, a partial ceasefire was declared. Our forces handled the ceasefire with utmost care and successfully evacuated Khaled Fajr Hospital.

From now on and until the end, our forces will continue to defend the free will and dignity of our people without hesitation, following in the footsteps of our martyrs and continuing their resistance through various methods and means.”
